Tina Fey has signed on to star in The Taliban Shuffle, a new project in development at Paramount. The film is based on a memoir by Kim Baker and the 30 Rock star will also produce.

There is no director currently assigned to the film, notes TheWrap, which first reported the news. Fey will produce under her Little Stranger, along with Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video.

Baker’s book is titled The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan and it was released in March 2012. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she covers her experiences in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as a journalist during the past decade. Baker covers what it’s like to be a woman in Pakistan and Iraq and how she kept herself occupied during quiet moments between explosions. Clearly, the film will be a bit more dramatic than Fey’s previous projects, but will have some black humor thrown in.

Since 30 Rock ended, Fey has been adding more films to her resume. She recently starred alongside Paul Rudd in Admission and will be seen with Kermit the Frog in Muppets Most Wanted next month. She will also appear in This Is Where I Leave You in September.
