South Korean male group Big Bang is a musical juggernaut to be reckoned with. Following their debut in 2006 under YG Entertainment, the group has won numerous awards not only in their home country, but internationally, and has now received worldwide recognition for their interesting musical style and determination to break barriers.
Initially debuting with an unmistakable hip-hop sound and two rappers in their group, the quintet has evolved and recorded albums that are pop oriented, influenced by techno, and ballads. Recognized as a group that sets trends instead of following them, Big Bang sets the bar.
In addition to their success as a group, members G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri, have all produced albums individually or as duos and found great success with them as they showcase their unique, personal sound.
Following a world tour in 2012, which included stops in the United States, and members G-Dragon and Taeyang both releasing solo albums in 2013, Big Bang has confirmed that they will be making their comeback in the summer of 2014. Here’s a look back at some of their best songs.
