Toyota Motor Corp. announced Wednesday that it is recalling 1.9 million Prius Hybrids.
According to USA Today, the auto company is recalling the vehicles to fix software in the car's hybrid-control system. The vehicles with the faulty software were manufactured between March of 2009 and February of 2014.
Toyota has said that the problem could cause the hybrid system to shut down completely while the car is in motion causing it to loss power and stop running.
The Los Angeles Times notes that the company is also recalling about 260,000 RAV4 sport-utility vehicles, Tacoma trucks and Lexus RX350 SUVs sold in the United States for a different issue.
The Prius recall is for cars sold in North America, Europe and Japan.
Toyota is certainly getting a reputation after so many recalls.
In 2009, the company launched a major recall for almost 14 million vehicles to address pedal problems. More recently, the Japanese automaker was forced to recall almost 781,000 vehicles due to loose suspension parts as well as 615,000 Sienna minivans for transmission issues.
Toyota recalled more vehicles in the U.S. in 2013 than any other automaker.
