Love is in the air in theaters this week. New romances blossom as strangers meet and good girls fall for bad boys. However, it’s not just about love and happiness, a few new crime films also make their debut.

A half-man, half-robot sets out to fight crime in Detroit in RoboCop. When a cop is critically injured on the job, a robotics company swoops in to help save the man’s life. When he gets back on the streets, he discovers that he now has new skills and more power than he ever had before. Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish and Jay Baruchel star in the PG-13 film. The action/adventure film is running in 2D and IMAX theaters for one hour and forty-eight minutes.

Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Regina Hall and Joy Bryant star in About Last Night. The one hour and forty minute romantic comedy focuses on the budding relationships of two couples who meet at a bar. The film is rated R for sex, language and drugs.

A passionate, young love is put to the test in Endless Love. Sparks fly when a girl from an affluent family meets a blue collar boy. His past comes back to haunt him as her father tries to drive them apart. The PG-13 romance stars Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde. It plays for one hour and forty-five minutes.

A thief gets a new outlook on life when he meets a young woman in Winter’s Tale. Wanted dead by his former employer, the man’s bright future with his new love turns bleaker when he finds out that she has a deadly illness. Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Jennifer Connelly and William Hurt star in the PG-13 romantic drama. It’s playing for one hour and fifty-eight minutes.

An aspiring young poet lands a job at a sex shop in Adult World. Looking to make it big, she reaches out to a famous antisocial poet for advice, but soon finds inspiration in her everyday life. Emma Roberts and John Cusack star in the one hour and thirty-seven minute comedy. The limited released film is rated R for sex and drugs.

An Italian bus driver falls for a French model in Girl on a Bicycle. Paolo has been dating Greta, a German flight attendant, for quite some time and has finally decided to propose. After popping the question, he sees an alluring woman on a bicycle while driving on his bus route. Captivated by her, he accidentally hits her with his bus and becomes her nurse. The limited released romantic comedy plays for one hour and forty-one minutes. It’s rated R for language, sex and nudity.

A Native American man, injured at war, struggles with the effects of his injury in Jimmy P. Labeled as a schizophrenic, a French psychoanalyst believes it’s more than that and tries to bring solace to the man by researching his dreams and consciousness. The one hour and fifty-seven minute drama is based on a true story. It stars Benicio Del Toro and Mathieu Amalric. The unrated film is available in limited theaters.

Zombies are brought back to life in The Returned. In the limited released horror film, the zombie epidemic is halted with a protein medication. When the protein supply runs low and groups protest the drug, the virus that was believed to have been suppressed comes back with a vengence. The unrated thriller runs for one hour and thirty-eight minutes.

A cocaine smuggler tries to leave his life of crime in Down and Dangerous. After one last job, he is finally able to break away, but a woman from his past drives him back in. The unrated, limited released thriller runs for one hour and thirty-five minutes.

Another former drug smuggler tries to start anew in Easy Money: Hard to Kill. After cleaning up his act in prison, he is determined to live on the straight and narrow. With a business school background and having developed a new trading software, he is confident he can take that next step. Doubt kicks in when his former gang tries to rope him back into the life of crime. The unrated crime thriller is running in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-nine minutes.

Two best friends go on a mission to lose their virginity before their prom in Date and Switch. Things get complicated when one announces he’s gay and the other starts dating his friend’s ex. The one hour and thirty one minute comedy is rated R for sex, language and drugs. It’s playing in limited theaters.

Gay rights are the focus of the film The New Black. The one hour and twenty minute documentary targets the African American community in Maryland and their views about religion and sex. The unrated film is available in limited theaters.

Even though Valentine’s Day will be over, another love story will be hitting theaters next week. Pompeii is an action packed romance set to the backdrop of the historic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Another action film debuting in theaters on February 21 is 3 Days to Kill.
