Two Houston teenagers have been charged with the murder of 15-year-old Corriann Cervantes. Authorities say that there is evidence of ‘occult activity,’ as the teens tried to make a deal with the devil.

Cervantes’ body was found in a vacant apartment building Saturday morning, reports KTRK-TV. Houston police said they found evidence of their being occult activity in the room.

The Associated Press reports that authorities also believe that they sexually assaulted the girl and there was a carved crucifix on her stomach.

The suspects are Jose E. Reyes, 17, and a 16-year-old boy whose name was not released. Authorities believe that they had lured Cervantes to the building and hit her, using a toilet cover and an ashtray. They allegedly stabbed her face using a screwdriver and kept from fleeing by holding her down. She was found half naked.

Harris County prosecutor John Jordan said that the younger boy wanted to make a deal with the devil after hearing that Reyes had done so. “The juvenile inquired ... that if he committed a murder, would that basically initiate him into being able to sell his soul to the devil, of which Mr. Reyes said, 'Yes,'” Jordan said during a hearing Tuesday.

Houston police arrested Reyes at the Clear Path Alternative school after he had confessed to a family member. The other boy did go to the same school.

Sources told KTRK that he did confess to the crime with the younger boy. He did appear in court Tuesday and is being held without bond. The younger boy is currently at a juvenile detention facility.
