Marvin Norwood and Louie Sanchez, who were accused of beating San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow in 2011 at Dodgers Stadium, have both received prison sentences for nearly beating Stow to death.

Stow, 44, of Santa Cruz, was attacked on March 31, 2011, notes The LA Times. Norwood and Sanchez allegedly beat him in a parking lot, nearly killing him. He suffered severe brain trauma and now has a disability which will require care for the rest of his life.

Superior Court Judge George G. Lomeli told both men at the hearing today that they are the “biggest nightmare” for anyone who goes to a public event. “You not only ruined the life of Mr. Stow, the obvious victim, but his children, his spouse, his family, his friends,” the judge said.

CNN reports that Norwood pleaded guilty to assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and Sanchez pleaded guilty to the felony of mayhem. Norwood got four years in prison, while Sanchez received eight years.

The district attorney said that Sanchez had attacked Stow from behind, while Norwood made it impossible for Stow’s friends to help him out. Witnesses said that Stow was kicked in the ribs once he fell, the LA Times noted.

The incident brought national attention to Dodgers Stadium security. Charlie Sheen even made a donation to help Stow.
