U2 took a very unique marketing approach for their new single, "Invisible." The band made the song available for 24 hours following their own Super Bowl advertisement that featured a few seconds of their latest single.
"Invisible" is currently available for free on iTunes and will support the RED foundation. For every download of the single, Bank of America will donate $1 to the Global Fund, which works to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Bono has worked with the RED foundation for many years and the Global Fund was co-founded by U2's frontman, Billboard reported.
Music fans have until today to download the single, at 1:59 p.m. The song will be taken off the service at that time.
The single has a classic U2 feel with sweeping guitars and showcasing the incredible range that Bono has on note. It does feel like the band is moving back towards their original roots with this single but some reviews have not been positive regarding the new single.
Forbes explained that for fans of U2, they will enjoy the song but the song won't win over any new fans.
The advertisement which aired during the first quarter of the game last night, showcased the band performing the single live surrounded by fans and lights.
