In a move that the US fears will do more harm to Russia than the Ukraine, Secretary of State John Kerry has urged Russia to not send military forces so close to the Russia-Ukraine border.

Kerry said, “For a country that has spoken out so frequently in the last year ... against foreign intervention in Libya, Syria, elsewhere, it would be important for them to heed those warnings as they think about options in the sovereign nation of Ukraine. Any kind of military intervention that would violate the sovereign territorial integrity of Ukraine would be a huge, a grave mistake,” according to Sky News. The Secretary of State also wanted to stress that it is not the United States aim to limit Russia’s influence.

This warning also comes with the news that the Obama administration is planning to give the Ukraine $1 billion in loan guarantees, and is considering giving them addition assistance for the unrest that has been created after the US back Russian president was taken out of office, according to the AP.

On Wednesday, President Putin ordered military exercises near the Russian-Ukraine board, which puts the Ukraine’s in discomfort. Britain, along with the US, has tried to help ease the tension.
