Nutriom LLC, a company based in Lacey, Washington, is recalling over 200,000 pounds of processed egg products. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the company recalled the products due to possible salmonella contamination.
According to ABC Local the dried egg products were produced between Feb. 28, 2013 and Feb. 8, 2014, mostly under the OvaEasy brand. The foods were shipped across the country, and to Canada, as well as countries abroad.
The products have the establishment number “INSPECTED EGG PRODUCTS PLANT 21493G” inside the USDA Mark of Inspection. Although there have been no reported illnesses from the products at this point, officials have classified the recall as a Class 1 recall, which does carry a high health risk.
According to king5 consumption of food contaminated with salmonella can cause salmonellosis, an extremely common bacterial food borne illness. The most common symptoms are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours after eating the contaminated product.
