The highly anticipated sophomore album from alternative band We Are The In Crowd, Weird Kids, shows a surprising amount of growth and potential from a group of people that have only been together for four short years.
Weird Kids begins with the anthemic “Long Live The Kids”, then lead single “The Best Thing (That Never Happened)” is a definite standout on the album, with its quick witted lyrics and drum stomping chorus, reminiscent of No Doubt’s “Sunday Morning”. The mature sound along lead singer Tay Jardine’s vocals evoke a music veteran, bringing back memories of Gwen Stefanie mixed with contemporary Hayley Williams of Paramore. What really sets them apart though is the call and response between Jardine and co-vocalist/guitarist Jordan Eckes, highlighted on the airy, Modern Rock feel “Manners”, pop-punk “Attention”, and perfectly fitting harmonies on “Remember (To Forget You)”.
We Are The In Crowd have a busy year ahead of them too, with their own headlining Reunion Tour with former The Academy Is… frontman William Beckett, Set It Off, State Champs and Candy Hearts. You can also catch We Are The In Crowd all summer long having recently been announced as a mainstay on this year’s Van’s Warped Tour.
Weird Kids is out now on Hopeless records, and is available on iTunes. The album is also available to stream on MTV’s Buzzworthy.
