Werner Herzog and Errol Morris will serve as the executive producers for the Joshua Oppenheimer’s film, The Look of Silence.
Oppenheimer told The Hollywood Reporter, "[These people] may wish the issues raised by the film will go away, but they won't, because The Look of Silence, which I shot before The Act of Killing was released – knowing that I probably wouldn't be able to return to Indonesia – will be released later this year."
The Act of Killing was originally released at the Telluride Film Festival in August of 2012. It became an important movie in 2013, and was nominated for an Academy Award this year in the Best Documentary category. The Act of Killing chose as its subject, Indonesian death squad leaders. Other films in the Best Documentary Category this year include The Act of Killing, Cutie and the Boxer, Dirty Wars, The Square, 20 Feet from Stardom, according to Variety.
Joshua Oppenheimer also directed the video documentary, The The Globalisation Tapes, and The Entire History of the Louisiana Purchase. Werner Herzog is responsible for documentaries like The White Diamond, Grizzly Man, and Into the Abyss.
The Look of Silence will be released in 2014. The 86th Academy Awards will be held March 2.
