Gary Sanchez, the production company run by comedian Will Ferrell and his Anchorman collaborator Adam McKay, is launching a new division dedicated to producing female-driven comedy projects for television and movies.

Producer Jessica Elbaum, who has been nominated for an Emmy and has worked on several Farrell projects, will lead this new division, which will be called Gloria Sanchez.

“When Jessica came to us with this idea, we thought it was fantastic. She has worked with some of the great female voices in comedy and has proven herself as a gifted producer who has a keen eye for material,” McKay and Ferrell said in a joint statement to TheWrap. “We called Gary and he loved the idea as well and asked that we name it after his favorite step Granddaughter, Gloria Sanchez.”

Gary Sanchez has been around for seven years, but already has a strong roster of successes, including Anchorman and its sequel, Step Brothers and The Other Guys. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, the company also produced the 2012 indie hit Bachelorette and is currently working on Tammy with Melissa McCarthy for New Line.

Elbaum has also worked on Broadway, bringing Ferrell’s You're Welcome America to the Cort Theatre in 2008. She’s currently working on Shitra Piven’s Welcome To Me with Kristen Wiig and James Marsden.
