A female wire fox terrier was crowned as the new champion at the 138th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

The New York Times reported that a wire fox terrier named Sky was chosen as the winner, giving that breed its 14th win at the prestigious dog show.

Reuters noted that Sky bested canines in six other groups to win the ultimate "best in show" title.

The 5-year-old terrier resides in Rialto, California with her handler Gabriel Rangel, who gushed about his veteran show dog.

"She's a little perfect dog. She knows what you want to do. You put her on the table and she's ready to be brushed," he said.

The reserve best in show or first runner-up was Ally, a white poodle.

The winners were chosen by Betty Regina Leininger of Frisco, Texas.

This year the event partnered with the Empire State Building, which was specially lit Tuesday night in gold and purple, the official colors of the Westminster Dog Show.
