A Tennessee woman has admitted to stabbing her mother in an attempt to kill her because she believes her mother is the leader of a satanic cult and possesses dark powers.

Katie Nichols, 31, confessed to a Tennessee news crew that she tried to kill her mother, 61-year-old Laurie Nichols, because she believes her mother is the anti-christ and the ringleader of a satanic cult.

The victim was reportedly lying in bed around 3:40 in the morning when her daughter entered her room and began attacking her. She was gagged with a sock, tied up, and by her daughter several times that she was wanted to kill her, according to The Daily Mail.

Nichols stabbed her mother in the chest with a small kitchen knife, in the abdomen with a large kitchen knife, and in the neck with a pair of scissors.

A neighbor called the authorities when they heard the victim’s screaming.

Nichols’ motivation for needing to kill her mother is the belief that her mother was casting spells over Nichols and her daughter in attempt to kill them.

"I had to kill her -she was going to kill both of us. She was so powerful, I had no idea - I had no idea that my mother was that powerful," Nichols told WVLT on camera.

Nichols believes her mother surviving the assault is further proof that she is the anti-christ.

Nichols was booked into Knox County Jail and charged with attempted first degree murder and kidnapping, according to The New York Daily News.
