There have been plenty of times you go onto an app on your phone, learning how to navigate, and understanding the flow, then going onto your laptop and everything looks and feels completely different. Viral giant YouTube, understanding the frustration of users (whether real or not) decided to redesign their site to match the look of their mobile app.
The redesign has adopted a cleaner “center-aligned” look, Variety reported. The sleeker design emphasizes user’s playlist on the left pane, which also showcases playlists from other channels you liked.
The new look mirror’s your phone, “similar to the mobile apps you’re spending almost half your YouTube time with,” YouTube web developer Yining Zhao said in a blog post announcing the change.
TechCrunchalso noted as part of the “card-style” design, YouTube also added new icons to the sidebar and introduced a new anchored menu button next to the YouTube logo in the top-left corner, that will bring up the guide with playlists, subscriptions and everything else that’s usually in the sidebar.
