With the home video release of Disney’s Frozen last week, that propelled the soundtrack to another strong week on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album saw its strongest sales week yet.
Frozen sold a whopping 202,000 copies this past week, according to Nielsen SoundScan numbers, notes Billboard. It was the album’s best week since Jan. 5, when it sold 165,000 copies. On last week’s chart, the album sold 99,000 copies but was still No. 1.
It has now earned seven non-consecutive weeks at No. 1. It has been on the chart for 17 weeks already. In total, 1.6 million copies of the album have been sold.
The film is still being shown in theaters and was released on DVD and Blu-ray last Tuesday. It sold a whopping 3.2 million copies in one day, Disney said.
The rest of the Top 5 starts with Rapper YG’s first studio album, My Krazy Life, which sold just 61,000 copies. That was still enough to reach No. 2 on the chart.
Foster the People’s hit No. 3 with 54,000 copies and Skrillex’s Recess debuted with 47,000 copies. Only 6,000 physical copies of Skrillex’s album were sold, though. The Pretty Reckless’ Going To Hell rounded out the top 5 with 35,000 copies.
The rest of the top 10 featured Pharrell Williams’ G I R L (34,000 copies); Mastermind by Rick Ross (27,000); Enrique Iglesias’ Sex and Love (24,000); Lorde’s Pure Heroine (24,000); and Taking Back Sunday’s Happiness Is (22,000).
Williams’ “Happy” topped the Digital Songs Chart yet again with 370,000 downloads.
