Legendary pictures is about ready to unleash Godzilla on audiences all over the world on May 16, 2014 but before Legendary pictures can celebrate their upcoming project they have a lawsuit in process.
The company lost an appeal in the lawsuit that was brought forward by three producers on the film who claim they were unfairly tossed off Godzilla. The case is now heading for trail. Producers Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Doug Davison are at the heart of this lawsuit.
Variety reported that, on Tuesday, California appeals court justice Judith Ashmann-Gerst made the ruling against Legendary's contention that an unsigned contract required arbitration.
In her ruling Judith Ashmann-Gerst explained, “We agree that it appears that the parties intended to memorialize in writing the terms of their oral agreement. The draft long-form agreement may have been an attempt to do so; but, respondents objected to many of the terms and expressly reserved the right to object to other terms. And, in any event, the draft long-form agreement indicated that it was not final until executed by the parties—it never was.”
This case has been on going since January 17th, Deadline reported.
Godzilla stars Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Tyler-Johnson.
