300: Rise of An Empire is holding strong at the box office bringing in over $16 million dollars at the United States box office and the film is also doing well on social media with a highly engaged fan base.

IGN reported that the film is likely to bring in over $30-40 million after its opening weekend.

300: Rise of An Empire has over 11 million likes on Facebook and the trailer has over 63 million views on YouTube, Variety reported.

Similar action films such as The Legend of Hercules and Pompeii, which opened to disappointing box office numbers, average only one million Facebook likes and had less than half of the views on YouTube that Rise had collected going into opening weekend.

When it comes to social media marketing, Rise utilized the already existing fan base to help build hype for the film. On Facebook, “Rise of An Empire” took over the original “300” page which helped the film to grow an even larger fan base.

The original 300 which was directed by Zack Snyder was released seven years ago and has a huge cult fan following.
