At least 36 individuals have been burned to death Saturday in the Balochistan region of Pakistan after a truck smuggling oil from Iran caught fire on a highway.
According to Dawn.com, some of the victims are believed to be members of the Pakistani navy, but the bodies have been burned to the point where they are unrecognizable. It was reportedly difficult to even identify the age and genders of the deceased.
At least 26 of the victims died instantaneously. Witnesses said the truck hit two coach vehicles when it turned over and spilled oil all over the road.
According to Khyber News, more than 70 other people were injured in the blaze. Several nearby cars and buildings were reported damaged after the incident.
A bomb disposal squad is currently investigating the incident and trying to find some of the survivors of the fire who were riding in the truck. Witnesses reported that they fled the scene before authorities arrived.
This explosion took place just a week after a bomb went off in a nearby church in an apparent double suicide. The incident killed 83 and injured 137.
