We've all heard stories of twins switching places at school, but a kindergartener imitating a first grader at a completely different school is quite out of the ordinary.

The unusual day filled with mistakes began early Wednesday morning when the five-year-old girl stepped foot onto the wrong school bus which was driven by a substitute driver that day.

Teachers had been expecting a new first grader that day in The Schenectady city school district in Schenectady County, New York, and teachers questioned the girl if she was the new student. When the girl said yes, teachers did not think any further about the situation.

According to The Huffington Post, the girl spent the rest of the school day answering to the name of the first grader who had not shown up.

Yahoo! News explains that the mistake was not uncovered until the mother of the 5-year-old kindergartner called her school to report that the girl had not returned home that afternoon.

The school officials located the girl not long after the incident was reported and the school district is now reevaluating its bus and new student procedures to ensure another situation like this one does not reoccur.
