50 Cent is set to headline a concert during South By Southwest, SXSW, next week which will be live-streamed via the mobile app Hang w/.
Billboard had the exclusive on the news about the Grammy winners news of headlining with the company he has also invested in, Hang With Inc. "I'm excited to be able to bring my fans behind the scenes and give the opportunity to those who couldn’t make it a chance to experience a concert at South By Southwest," 50 Cent said in a statement.
50 Cent also recently parted ways with his long-time label Shady/Aftermath, a subsidiary of Interscope Records run by Eminem and Dr. Dre, according to Rolling Stone. With a new album on the way, Animal Ambition, 50 Cent will release the record on an independent distributor.
There has been growing trend among musicians, leaving the major label to distribute music independently, with the most recent notable Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and releasing their multi-Grammy success The Heist without any major label backing.
50 Cent’s headlining show will be streamed live on March 11 at 8pm on Hang w/. Animal Ambition is set for release on June 3, with pre-sale beginning March 18.
