Former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert will be joining the remaining members of Queen for a 19-date North American tour this summer. The trio have been performing together since 2009 and did do a brief European tour in 2012.

Queen now consists of guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Lambert would replace the late Freddie Mercury and bassist John Deacon has retired from performing.

Lambert first performed with May and Taylor in 2009 to sing “We Are The Champions” on Idol, notes Rolling Stone. They performed three songs at the 2011 MTV European Music Awards and toured Europe in 2012. Last year, they gave a critically acclaimed performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

“The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in North America is so beautifully surreal. I'm honored to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory; he's a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band,” Lambert said in a statement.

The tour is set to start on June 19 at Chicago’s United Center and finishes at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Washington D.C. on July 20. In between, there are stops in Montreal, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Toronto, New York, Houston and Dallas.

Tickets go on sale at LiveNation.com on Friday, March 14. You can check out the full tour itinerary at QueenOnline.com.
