Ari Teman, a New York man who allowed David Carter to rent his apartment through Airbnb while he was out of town for a weekend came back early to discover that David had rented the apartment to host an orgy.

Teman, a comedian, told Gawker that he gave Carter the keys to his apartment Friday afternoon. He left his suitcase with the doorman and headed out for dinner before his trip out of New York. He went back to the apartment building and overheard Carter tell others “they're shutting us down.” At that point, Teman still had no idea what Carter was talking about. He Googled Carter’s phone number and discovered a tweet advertising a “BBW Panty Raid Party.” That lead him to another Twitter account that advertized a “XXX Freak Fest” - at his apartment building.

“This was just so bizarre,” Teman told The New York Post. “The worst part of the Internet right there was in my apartment.”

He went up to his apartment to find it in complete disarray. “This guy had a look of horror on his face,” Teman told the Post. “He didn’t expect to see me for a few days. He said, ‘They shut us down, man, they’re shutting it down.’”

Teman’s furniture was overturned and he said there condoms and liquor on the floor that wasn’t his, notes Gawker.

Carter told the Post that Teman is making all of this up. “I had six people, friends and family,” he said. “He is making a big to-do because he is being evicted.” Carter said that he was not arrested and insisted that nothing was wrong.

Meanwhile, Airbnb had an unbelievably swift response. The company wired Teman $23,817, changed his locks and offered to pay for a hotel stay for a week. They also sent a statement to Gawker, saying that this was just a rare occurrence.

“We've reimbursed the host for damages to his apartment and ensured he has a new place to stay,” the company told Gawker. “In the days ahead, we'll continue to work with the host to assist him with his additional needs and we will work cooperatively with any law enforcement agencies that investigate this matter.”
