When Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t yelling at Jimmy Fallon to “get him the chopper,” the iconic action star is busy making new films. While he has been promoting this weekend’s Sabotage, Schwarzenegger has had to face questions about his biggest future project, Terminator: Genesis. In a new interview, he explained how he can play a robot, even though he’s much older than he was the last time he played a Terminator.

Schwarzenegger hasn’t had to play the T-800 himself since 2003’s Terminator: Rise of the Machines, and it will be over a decade since then by the time the fifth film in the franchise opens. Robots aren’t supposed to age in most science fiction tales, but Schwarzenegger told MTV News that things are different in the Terminator world.

“The way that the character is written, it's a machine underneath,” he explained. “It's this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator's flesh ages, just like any other human being's flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages.”

The plot of Genesis, which will be directed by Game of Thrones’ Alan Taylor, will involve a lot of time travel, as Jason Clarke will be playing John Connor and Emilia Clarke will be his mother, Sarah Connor. Jai Courtney was recently cast to play John’s father, Kyle Reese.

Schwarzenegger told MTV that there will be a younger T-800 in the film. “And then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him,” he said, describing a part of the film. “So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good.”

Genesis opens on July 1, 2015, but you can see Schwarzenegger much sooner. Sabotage opens this weekend. He also appears in a hilarious new Jimmy Fallon viral video.
