The director of Basketball Diaries, Scott Kalvert, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 49.

Kalvert was discovered at his Woodland Hills home, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Los Angeles Coroner's Office has said that they are looking at the death as a possible suicide.

He is best known as the director of the 1995 film, Basketball Diaries, that starred Mark Wahlberg and Leonardo DiCaprio. Other films he worked on include the Stephen Dorff film Deuces Wild and a TV movie called School Gyrls. On the latter film he served as an executive producer.

The 2009 Nickelodeon film was directed by Nick Cannon and featured Justin Bieber and Soulja Boy, who played themselves.

Kalvert was also a director of music videos, having worked with many different artists, reports TheWrap. He worked on music videos for Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, Salt 'N Pepa, Cyndi Lauper, LL Cool J and DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith.
