A Kentucky family’s beloved Beagle went missing 17 months ago and was just found nearly 400 miles away in Pennsylvania.
According to WTAE, the 7-year old pooch named "Sassy," was found Saturday in Brentwood, Pa. after a veterinarian discovered her microchip.
The two woman, who had been caring for the dog as foster parents, assumed that the shelter they rescued her from had previously checked for a chip.
WLKY reported that Sassy's rightful owners in Louisville, Ky. were contacted and that's when they learned the story of her journey.
While staying with the owner’s family members when they were away, Sassy was let out one night and never returned.
Her owners, the Roman family, waited for their dog to come home, but she never did.
Somehow, Sassy was injured and ended up at a shelter in her home state. Before euthanizing her, the shelter reached out to Forever Home Beagle Rescue and members agreed to take her to West Virginia. She was then taken in by her foster family.
The Romans are overjoyed that their Beagle was found and they will be reunited with her on Friday in Pittsburgh.
