An investigation is underway for the suspicious death of a Queens man whose body was found in shallow grave.

The man’s name was Quinton Ross and, following a series of incorrect stories, it has been confirmed that is not former NBA player Quinton Ross, but a man who shared his namesake.

According to The New York Daily News, Ross, 29, was last seen early Sunday morning. His mother pinged his phone using the Find My Phone app that night and was led to a Far Rockaway beach, but was unable to find him. When she returned Monday morning, she discovered a garbage bag filled with blood clothing and alerted authorities who found a second garbage bag, which contained Ross’ body.

Ross’ aunt said that her mother saw men chasing him before he disappeared.

According to The New York Post, an autopsy is being performed on Ross’ body and until the results are received they will not know how he died. It has not been reported that Ross’ body had any visible signs of trauma.

At the time of his death, Quinton Ross was a photographer who had a daughter with his girlfriend.
