The body of a toddler has been found in Chicago.
According to The New York Daily News, the body has been identified as that of 17-month-old Amierah Roberson.
The girl’s mother, Jocelyn Roberson, noticed Amierah was missing when she returned home from work at 5:00 pm. She’d left Amierah in the care of her boyfriend, but was told the toddler had ‘suddenly disappeared’.
Roberson called the police and a search ensued for little Amierah, however, the child had been found almost two hours prior in a wooden area.
Amierah Roberson’s death has been ruled a homicide after the medical examiner reported that the child had died of head injuries from an assault.
On Monday evening, police were interviewing Jocelyn Roberson and her boyfriend to determine whether or not they were involved in the crime, according to ABC.
"She was a sweetheart. She was a joy to be around. She was an angel," the child’s great grandmother, Deborah Madison, said.
No charges have been filed as of yet.
