Although it has been four years since Brittany Murphy died at age 32, the actress’ final film, Something Wicked, has not been released. Suddenly, on Monday, the film’s producers posed on Facebook that it will be shown for the first time ever in a special screening in Oregon.
Last week, the film’s Facebook page became active again, getting a new cover photo and teasing that more information was coming. Then on Monday, a statement confirmed that the film will be shown in Eugene, Ore. on April 4 at the Regal Valley River Center 15. That location was picked since it is where the film was made.
Next, the film will be shown in Portland and Seattle before hitting cinemas elsewhere. “The better we do in theaters, the more cities will be added so we need your help getting the word out,” the post read.
Murphy isn’t the only star in the film. E! News notes that Shantel VanSanten (One Tree Hill) and Julian Morris (Pretty Little Liars) also appear in the movie. It is described as a thriller centering on “obsession and young love gone wrong.”
The 8 Mile actress died in December 2009, due to pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication. Her husband, Simon Monjack, died months later. Last year, her father insisted that Murphy was poisoned, but a coroner had previously dismissed those claims.
