Bryan Singer is talking about his next X-Men project, X-Men: Apocalypse and calls the film the most destructive X-Men movie ever.
This next film in the franchise is not scheduled to be released for another two years but Singer has been providing details and insights in interviews and on social media sites, Indie Wire reported.
Singer will be directing, writing and producing this next film and recently spoke to Total Film magazine about the mutant film. Singer explained that this storyline will deal with the idea of ancient mutants and will be set in the 1980s. He also called this the "most destructive movie in the franchise," Variety reported.
“‘Apocalypse’ will have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle," said Singer.
With the announcement that this film will be taking place in the 1980s, it would appear that the cast of X-Men: First Class will be featured in this film not the original cast from X-Men and X2.
The picture will feature younger versions of classic characters as Singer detailed to the magazine. "“That’ll be fun to show the audience,” he told the mag. “I call these movies in-between-quels. It’s a mind-f**k sometimes in terms of where things fall in the timeline," said the X-Men director.
The latests film from Singer is the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past which will be released nation wide on May 23, 2014.
