A couple from Burbank, California saved a falling child with a mattress.

People reports that couple were moving out of their apartment and saw a young boy climbing out of third-story window. Konrad Lightner and his wife, Jennifer, reacted quickly and saved the young toddler.

ABC7 adds that the Lightner couple were carrying boxes to their car when they realized the toddler and his sister were throwing their toys out the window. The situation escalated when the toddler threw his leg out the window.

Burbank Police Lt. John Dilibert described the incident by saying, "The child climbed out of the window and was actually hanging out on to what appeared to be a telephone line or a cable line. They placed the mattress underneath the child, and at that point the child released and fell to the ground."

Konrad was able to safely land the 3-year-old onto the mattress. "We called 911 and Konrad threw the box spring down trying to break his fall and stood there to catch him," said Jennifer.

The Lightner couple went to notify the toddler’s parents about his fall. The toddler’s parents were unaware of what was going on, but were very grateful for the Lightner’s amazing rescue.

Once the toddler was in the care of his parents the Lightner’s continued moving out.

"It was very surreal afterwards. We were just moving the rest of day and every once in a while we'd look at each other and just be like, 'That happened. That was real,'" said Jennifer.

The toddler was taken to the hospital and did not suffer from any sever injuries.
