A California man who spoke of wanting to bomb the Los Angeles subway system, was arrested near the Canadian border.

According to the Associated Press, federal prosecutors said on Monday that Nicholas Teausant of Acampo, Calif., was taken off a bus just shy of the border in Washington State and charged with attempting to travel to Syria to fight alongside Islamic extremists.

A press release issued by the Department of Justice, said that the 20-year-old is accused of trying to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

The Los Angeles Times noted that Teausant’s online postings were extremely troubling as he displayed his distaste for America.

Authorities allege that on Instagram, he was "Assad Teausant bigolsmurf," and that he despised the U.S. and that he wanted "to join Allah's army but I don't even know how to start." On ask.fm, he was "assadthelion" and wrote, "how do you bring america to its knees?" And on Facebook, he allegedly met "brothers" with whom he conspired a plan to blow up the Los Angeles County subway system.

Teausant also allegedly wanted to bomb his infant daughter's day-care center because it was at a "Zionist reform church."

Undercover FBI agents continued online and in-person communication with Teausant for about six months before they arrested him. If convicted he faces 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
