‘Average is beautiful’: This is the tagline for the Lammily doll, a new doll that has come to compete with the unrealistically thin and tall Barbie.

Nickolay Lamm, creator of the Lammily doll, created her doll based on the average proportions of a 19-year-old woman, states India. The doll also wears very little makeup to promote natural beauty to younger generations of girls.

Beyond this, the doll is also able to bend her wrists and feet, unlike classic Barbie.

“I feel like there’s a very good chance that those types of dolls affect young girls,” Lamm said, in reference to unrealistic dolls. “If there’s a very good chance like that, and if the average sized doll can actually look good, like Lammily does, let’s make it then.”

According to the Washington Post, Lammily represents a sports-interested brunette who represents the everyday girl.

The doll currently has an online campaign pushing for the funding of Lammily to get it into stores.
