An 8-year-old boy was killed on Saturday after he and his brothers had found what they thought was only a pellet gun.

The boy, Sammy Lorenzo, and his two brothers were visiting their uncle and they discovered a real, loaded handgun reports Cincinnati Enquirer. The three boys all assumed the guns was a BB gun. As they were looking at the gun, one of the brothers shot Lorenzo in the chest.

Lorenzo's brother "kept telling the story of how it happened, over and over again," Cincinnati police Lt. Don Luck said. "It's so sad."

Lorenzo was rushed to the hospital for surgery, but died a couple hours after arriving at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

According to The Associated Press, neither of the two brothers are expected to be charged, but an unidentified adult who was home could still face charges.

Fox 19 reports that police are still investigating as initial conversations with the family were difficult due to a language barrier, but an interpreter was being brought into the case to help out.
