A Wesleyan University student filed a lawsuit Tuesday against a campus fraternity after claiming she was raped by various members at a party last May.
Cabri Chamberlin, who was a freshman at the Connecticut school at time of the incident, claimed that while at an out-of-control college fraternity party, she was raped by one of the members while other watched. According to the University Herald, the lawsuit names 11 of the Xi Chapter of Psi Upsilon and is asking for $10 million in damages.
Chamberlin stated that she is going through the case with her real name because she wants what happened to her to hopefully get regulations changed and protect others.
“I’ve done nothing wrong and have nothing to be ashamed of,” Chamberlin said.
Executive director of the fraternity, Tom Fox, has stated that an investigation is underway to find out what happened. Wesleyan University is also investigating the incident and said they will respond as needed.
CNN reports that Chamberlin has taken a leave of absence from school since the incident happened and has been seeking counseling.
