Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) has denied an accusation that he assaulted his estranged wife.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, a judge granted a temporary protective injunction against the congressman after Lolita Grayson filed paperwork accusing him of pushing and injuring her during an incident this past weekend.

The Orlando Democrat denied the accusations in a statement released by his press secretary, Lauren Doney.

"These allegations are absolutely false, completely unfounded, and clearly designed to vilify and harm Congressman Grayson.” The statement went on to say that "Congressman Grayson firmly denies Ms. Grayson's frivolous accusations.”

Grayson’s wife claims that her husband showed up at the house over the weekend and asked to speak with her, but she was on her way out and refused. The petition then says that the congressman “deliberately and with force pushed [Lolita Grayson] very hard against the front door, causing [her] to fall to the ground as a result.”

The congressman's director of constituent services claims that he was present and did not witness Grayson shove his wife.

The Daily Mail noted that Grayson is married to Lolita, who is of Filipino descent, and they have five children together.
