A Connecticut couple has died after carbon monoxide leaked into their running car.
The bodies of Brittany Holland, 25, and Casey Senechal, 26, were found in Lebanon, Connecticut early Monday morning, according to NBC Connecticut.
Authorities were alerted to the incident by a passerby who noticed something was amiss. The police have ruled out foul play and said the deaths were an accident.
Holland’s grandfather, Bernard Bonbardier, was noticeably distraught as he spoke to reporters about his granddaughter.
“They were very much in love,” Bonbardier told The New York Daily News.
Holland and Senechal, who dated for the past six months, were set to go on a cruise to the Bahamas Monday, Holland’s grandfather said.
Charlene Couchon, a friend of the couple, was set to go on the cruise with them and is distraught over the loss.
"Eight days and I still have to go without her," she said. "It's going to be a very bittersweet situation. I'm going to be extremely depressed and going to try to have as much fun as I can because we had so much planned for that trip."
“She was a beautiful, kind, loving person,” Bonbardier said. “She was always happy. Always smiling.”
Holland was in college and studying to be a nurse. Senechal’s family was unavailable for comment.
