A Connecticut man seeks custody of his daughter after his ex-wife was put in prison for allegedly trying to have him killed.

Eric Stevens stated that he doesn’t know where his daughter is at this time, but she is still technically under the custody of Tiffany Stevens, who was arrested almost two years ago and remains in jail today. Fox CT reports that Tiffany Stevens was charged with attempted murder.

Eric Stevens is only given one short phone call a night with his daughter, Layla. The call always comes from a blocked number.

According to the Associated Press, Stevens filed a complaint about the matter on Thursday, February 27, alleging that there was both corruption and perjury involved in his custody case.

Stevens actually filed a claim after his ex-wife’s original arrest, citing her attempt to pay a maintenance man $5,000 to have him killed. Her parents, in turn, filed a motion to have the girl placed in their custody. The judge, Hartford Family Court Judge Leslie Olear, rejected Stevens claim immediately, offering him no explanation. A year and a half later, Olear has still yet to rule in the case of the grandparents.
