Darren Aronofsky, known for his indie films, premiered his new film, Noah, in Mexico City.

According to Moviefone, Aronofsky discussed the boycotts of Noah as "sad," telling the Times of Israel, "[W]e knew it might be a problem when we first started this. But it's sad, because I know people would get a lot out of the movie, but you have to respect what people think."

In the film, the main character, Noah, suffers from an apocalyptic deluge. The film was written and directed by Darren Aronofsky. It features Russell Crowe as Noah, Jennifer Connelly as Naameh, and Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah.

Aronofsky is no stranger to controversy. Noah had been banned in several Middle Eastern countries for depicting a prophet. The leading film maker is known for his films, Black Swan, The Wrestler, and Requiem for a Dream.

Fans attended the red carpet event at the Pepsi Center to see the celebrities involved in Noah, according to the The Hollywood Reporter. Distributors look towards Latin America as a key market for the film. Aronofsky also attended the event and spoke before the movie screening.
