Paramount's Noah opened on Friday in Mexico, a week ahead of its U.S. release, and grossed a decent $1.4 million.
Though that figure sounds low in comparison with U.S. box office numbers, it's the same that Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity debuted to last year, reports Deadline. The film opened at 635 screens.
The Russell Crowe-led flick also opened stronger than the last James Bond film Skyfall did, which only made $820,000 in its first day.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film also opened up in South Korea, where it earned another $1.4 million.
While it opened strong in Mexico and South Korea, the film won't be earning anything in the Middle East, where it was largely banned over its depiction of a prophet.
Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates were the first to announce that they would not be screening Noah because the film goes against Islamic Law. It is also expected to be banned in Jordan, Kuwait and Egypt.
