A group of unidentified men wielding knives set upon a southwestern Chinese town train station, leaving 27 people dead and 109 injured.

According to CNN, a witness took to social media after the event and said that the men were dressed in black and were attacking people around the railway station. The men were wielding long knives as they tried to stab people.

The Associated Press reports that police arrived at the Kunming Railway Station, and according to reports from the local television station K6, shot several of the men wielding knives. Victims were being taken to nearby hospitals to receive treatment.

Police say that they don't currently know the motive behind the attack, but there have been recent mass stabbings, often perpetrated by those who are frustrated and angry with society.
