A video of a children’s choir in Detroit, Michigan is getting some attention – even from Ellen DeGeneres, Queen Latifah and the Today Show. The viral video features the kids singing the Oscar-nominated “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.
The performance was actually an audition for NBC’s America's Got Talent, which was recorded one of the kids’ father’s cell phones.
The Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences, which is made up of 40 kids, has been invited to perform their rendition of the show on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Queen Latifah Show and the Today Show since it went viral.
USA Today reports choir director Angela Kee said they’re “excited and tickled and pleased and amazed” at the reaction to the video.
"Something positive for a change. A lot of times what you see on cell phone videos is negative,” she said of the audition being shot on a Galaxy S4 cell phone.
Samuel Pickens and Asia Newson, 10, are lead vocalists. The video has over 400,000 hits as of Wednesday morning.
