During the annual meeting with shareholders, Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke about Star Wars: Episode VII and confirmed that Pixar is working on more sequels.
Iger said that even though Episode VII will include some familiar faces, it is set 30 years after Return of the Jedi, notes TheWrap. As expected, he said that J.J. Abrams’ new film will focus on a trio of three new young actors.
Although there have been plenty of rumors in recent days on who may star in the film, Iger could only say that R2-D2 will appear in the film. He said that shooting will start in May and he’s still confident that the movie will make its Dec. 18, 2015 release date.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iger also told the shareholders at the meeting in Portland, Ore. that Pixar is making an Incredibles 2 and a third Cars.
Iger has certainly had a lot to boast about, as Frozen continues to make money, even though it was released on home video Tuesday. The film has already made over $1 billion worldwide. He noted that it is “poised” to pass Toy Story 3 soon.
Disney is looking forward to a great 2014, which will include Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent.
