A Rick Ross album launch party gets cut short after a DJ is shot.
The New York Daily News reports that a DJ was wounded outside of the Atlanta nightclub, Velvet Room, early Monday.
Two off duty cops, who were working security at the club, heard gunfire behind the club around 4 a.m. After investigating, the DJ opened fire on the two cops, who returned fire, hitting him in the leg.
The DJ entered the nightclub, with Rick Ross and Sean 'Diddy' Combs in attendance, after he was shot, and was later arrested and taken to the hospital to be treated.
The two policemen were not hurt, but are currently on administration duty which is standard procedure.
"They were doing what they were trained to do," Police Chief Cedric Alexander said. "They took all the necessary actions to protect themselves and each other."
The police do not believe the celebrities inside had anything to do with the shooting.
However, according to the Charlotte Observer, this is the second time over the weekend where a party that had Combs present, involved a shooting.
A man and a woman were shot in the leg on Sunday around 2 a.m., at a party taking place in the Sheraton Hotel in Charlotte.
Witnesses say the gunshots erupted after an argument in the VIP. Thousands of people went running into the ballroom to try and exit, leaving a few injured after being trampled.
The party, which featured Combs, took place after a CIAA basketball game that was held in northern Charlotte.
