On Saturday the Dulles Town Center Mall near Dulles International Airport in Sterling, Virginia was evacuated and closed due to a reported shooting. But after thorough investigation no gunman and no suspicious activity was found after all.

According to the Associated Press the person who called in the incident overheard two women talking about a shooting that possibly occurred. But when officers arrived at the scene they were unable to locate the women to find out what they were referring to.

Loudoun County Sheriffs arrived on the scene and completely checked the entire mall going from store to store. Officers armed with assault rifles went to each store and told employees to lock the gates immediately even with customers in the store. According to CBS Local Joshua Royce, a photographer at Picture People, said, “We were probably in there about an hour. They came back to the gate and told us we could evacuate out the back door.”

The mall reopened a few hours later.
