Just two days after Philadelphia Eagles fans had mixed reactions and debated about the signing of former New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins, the team added another Saint to the mix.
ESPN was the first to report the news on Thursday that the Eagles acquired Darren Sproles from the Saints in a trade for a fifth-round draft pick.
"Darren Sproles is an unbelievable offensive weapon," said Eagles coach Chip Kelly. "He can do it all -- run, catch -- plus he's a proven winner. And on top of that, he can bring all of those dynamic skills to the return game as well. There is no question we were all excited once we found out we were going to be able to trade for him."
CBS Sports noted that the Saints were expected to release the running back, but had a change of heart when teams showed interest and instead decided to trade for him.
Philly’s already explosive offense just got even dangerous, as if teams didn’t already have their hands full with running back LeSean McCoy and the Birds’ speedy receivers.
As Coach Kelly pointed out, Sproles can also be used as an option for a return man, which the Eagles really need.
So after some whining about Tuesday’s signing, the fans seem to be very happy with this deal and all is now well in Eagles country.
