Elton John has made music history once again. Upon releasing his album The Diving Board, John can now add another line to his musical resume. His latest entry "Can't Stay Alone Tonight" entered into the Billboard charts at the No. 27 spot on the charts. This entry marks John's 70th entry on the music charts.
The hit single "Can't Stay Alone Tonight" is the second single off of his 30th studio release, Billboard reported. The first single off of the album "Home Again" reached No. 14 on the charts back in September.
The "Tiny Dancer" recently spoke with Billboard about this latest album. ""[Bernie Taupin and I] wrote 11 songs and recorded them in four days. Mixing gospel, blues, jazz, brass band and pop the album is "everything I love about American music," said John.
This most recent album has sold over 142,000 copies.
The first single that charted for John was "Your Song" and that entered into the music charts back in 1970 at the No. 9 spot.
This was a busy month for John, along with making music chart history, the singer also debuted his concert film The Million Dollar Piano.
John is also flattered that modern pop stars are covering his work. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he discussed pop musician Miguel covering his classic "Bennie and the Jets."
"Miguel's done a fantastic job. It really makes the best of what the song is all about. And it is an unusual song. It's not what I think is a hit record, but then that's probably why it was a hit record, because it didn't sound like anything else before. It’s important not to copy, and that’s what Miguel did," said John.
