An inmate being held at the same jail as Aaron Hernandez, does not want to testify against the former NFL star after being physically assaulted.
According to The Sun Chronicle, the victim’s lawyer Michael Maloney, has said that his client, Andrew Booker, does not wish to testify against Hernandez because he does not want to "be a rat"
TMZ reported last month that the former tight end and the 25-year-old inmate had a jailhouse altercation in which Booker was allegedly punched and struck repeatedly by Hernandez. The former New England Patriot was charged with assault and battery for the incident.
Maloney said the fight was something that got out of hand after a verbal feud.
“It escalated, got out of control and Booker was assaulted while handcuffed," he said.
Hernandez has been held at the Dartmouth House of Correction since June 26 and is charged with the murder of 27-year-old acquaintance, Odin Lloyd. He has plead not guilty.
Booker faces drugs and weapons charges stemming from a drug bust. He has also plead not guilty.
