A female pilot received a sexist note from one of her passengers on a flight to Victoria, B.C.

Carey Smith Steacy, who is a Canadian airline pilot, was flying her WestJet plane from Calgary while a passenger was leaving a note on a napkin for the flight attendants to find, reports Yahoo.

“The cockpit of an airline is no place for a woman,” the note read. “A woman being a mother is the most honor. Not as ‘captain.’ We’re short mothers, not pilots.”

The flying vet of 17 years, however, took the letter with grace.

According to Metro News, the pilot posted a Facebook response, which is no longer visible, stating that she is both a mother and a pilot. She also wrote that the passenger, identified as David, has the right to say what he thinks.

“I have heard many comments from people throughout my 17 year career as a pilot,” Steacy reportedly wrote. “Your note is, without a doubt, the funniest.”

A lot of the fear of female pilots apparently sprouts from the fear that they will go into unexpected labor while flying.
