After receiving a sexist note from a passenger, a 17-year veteran pilot decided to strike back.

On a flight from Calgary to Victoria, WestJet Pilot Carey Steacy received a nasty note on a napkin signed by “David in 12E.”

The note stated that the “cockpit is no place for a woman” and “I wish WestJet could tell me a fair lady is at the helm so I can book another flight!” according to KDVR

Steacy has an abundance of pilot experience and is also the mother of two.

She decided to take the matter to Facebook by saying “I have heard many comments from people throughout my 17-year career as a pilot. Most of them positive. Your note is, without a doubt, the funniest,” She continued to say, “You were more than welcome to deplane when you heard I was a ‘fair lady’…We all, us humans, have the same rights in this great free country of ours. Now, back to my most important role, being a mother,” as reported in CBC News.

WestJet has 1,118 male pilots and 58 female pilots—all with a plethora of talent within their jobs.

A WestJet official stated on Tuesday that all of their employed pilots are appreciated no matter what gender they identify with. David’s note was disappointing but did not shatter Steacy’s spirit.
